One of the most interesting aspects of amphibians is the variety of habitats in which they occur. Some species, like the Mudpuppy, never leave the water, while others, like the Spadefoot Toad, have adapted to live in very dry environments. Most of Ohio's amphibian species return to water to breed and require wetland habitats for the development of their aquatic larvae.
